SOIL ENVIRONMENTAL
ACCOUNTING

What is soil environmental accounting in food production?

Soil Environmental Accounting (SEA) is understood to mean the measurement and annual recording of physical, chemical and biological parameters that unequivocally indicate, through an index, the consequences of the production system used on soil quality. SEA presents itself as an annual and integrated analysis that objectively monitors soil quality over the years, in sustainable agricultural production systems or in areas where management is desired to be more sustainable. Thus, we contribute to the ecological management of the soil that, among other benefits, reduces the emission of greenhouse gases, increases carbon sequestration, and increases soil organic matter content. In addition, with SEA analysis, we guarantee the quality of sampling, processing and data storage through qualified professionals. And from the annual monitoring, there is recognition of the producer through the Seal of Positive Environmental Accounting. With the seal, the producer will reach new markets, have a financial differential and increase the transparency of his production with consumers.

Benefits

  • Environment

Maintenance of the soil system as a living and dynamic component of nature. Preservation of the ecosystem as a whole, ensuring its longevity and functioning for future generations

  • Farmer

Increase in production profitability with reduced spending on external inputs, combined with increased productivity in the long term. Better monitoring and management of collected data, greater reliability and quality assurance in sampling. Appreciation of the work done on the property

  • Consumer

Consumption of cleaner foods, contributing directly to health. Greater transparency and knowledge of sustainable management applied on the farm. Contribution to the continuity and expansion of sustainable activities in agriculture

Strategy

  • Measurement and annual recording of physical, chemical and biological parameters of the soil.

  • Duration: 10 years.

  • Measurements on properties in an agroecological system or in transition to.

Goals

Our ultimate goal is to value for food producers that have good soil environmental accounting indicators

  • Soil Environmenta Accouting

  • Environmental Traceability

  • Environmental Certification
